As an extremely experienced Director/Playwright, Louise will share her practice in developing a devised text for performance. Drawing on her many years of experience working with actors and young people, she will offer exercises, task and techniques for ideas development from a given stimulus or concept.
Working experientially with participants, she will explore how the germ of an idea can be ‘exploded’ for potential content, before looking at how a central ‘controlling idea’ can be distilled and shaped into a dramatic arc. Within this framework participants will explore genre, the role of research in creating the ‘world of the play’, scenic structure, characterisation and character ’stakes’, dramatic structure, plot and realisation for stage.
Louise will draw on the knowledge and experience that will already exist amongst participants, hoping to shape the training so that good practice can be shared and the course content shaped to meet the needs of the participants.
Facilitator: Louise Osborn. Playwright, Screen writer, Director and Dramaturge
A Zoom link will be shared to all signed up to the course closer to the date.
