Joy In Composition – for teachers of music GCSE, AS and A’ level

Wednesday 3rd February 21 @ - , image showing some of the tools of composition

Every composer has a composition ‘toolkit’ which helps them to make music on a daily basis. Join James as he shares some of his favourite tools and gives practical tips with a mind to inspiring creativity for both GCSE and A / AS level students. Over two sessions James will take participants through the development of a composition from the initial stimuli though to the finished piece, breaking down the various stages as he goes. James Williams is a Welsh composer who works primarily in theatre. ‘Working in the theatre, I am often asked to compose to a tight brief where the challenge is to match my own musical voice with different musical styles and influences. It’s great work and I find there’s a real joy to be had in exploring the minutiae of the brief and ultimately making it my own’.

3 & 10 February 3.30pm – 5.30pm

The two sessions follow on from each other so teachers need to attend both.

This course will be run by James Williams

A Zoom link will be shared to all signed up to the course closer to the date.
