Our courses provide opportunities to combine arts activity with other areas of classroom learning.
Llanover Hall Art Centre, Romilly Road, Canton, Cardiff.
Places on the course are free to book and the network will sponsor your attendance by supporting the cost of supply staff up to £180 per day.
In the Masking Making and Drama Teacher Training Course you will develop strategies to include within one or more themes;
A three day Mask Making and Drama training workshop for Teachers (particularly upper Keystage 2). During the three days you go through an explorative creative process that uses exercises and tasks that theatre professionals use to design masks. Then you will create appropriate movement and the characterisations to bring your mask to life.
‘I found that I felt so much more confidence once I was wearing the mask…this would really help children who are more shy or less confident’
‘I loved working with the masks, the tools and resources – ‘gum-strip’ is great! Masks are such a great way to help the children visualise – to evoke emotions.
The sessions start from a text (the Story of Taliesin) finding and developing themes and imagery through a range of literacy based activities, games and drama exercises. Participants will be equipped to deliver these in their own classroom and to develop their use to a range of circumstances.
The aim of the art workshop is for participants to create 3D masks by using a selection of materials that are appropriate for use in the classroom and then to learn techniques that can be taken into a range of different creative art projects. The creative making element on this course provides a chance for teachers to develop their own art skills and gain greater confidence to tackle arts projects in the classroom.
